Date Night Edition
Checks Please
Had you told me 5 years ago, that salmon colored capri pants would become one of my closet staples, I would have scoffed at you in my vintage, ironic t-shirt and skinny jeans while sipping on my grande carmel macchiato with soy milk. But you know what? It's true and I don't care who knows it. I like these little pants, they make me feel like a kindergartener and a responsible 26 year old all at the same time. (Capri pants = responsible. You didn't know that?)
If you are thinking, "hey this outfit looks a lot like this outfit..." well you're right. Sometimes you just can't fight the inspiration. Except I tossed on my trusty gingham-checked shirt instead of my awesome blue thrifted silk top like Jentine did. Mainly because I don't have an awesome blue silk top. I'm going to go cry into my too tight skirt now...

Call Me Dottie
To whomever gave up this gem of a jacket, I thank you. I now feel like my dream of being a Golden Girl is coming true. Since Blanche the lush is already taken, you can call me Dottie, the other lush. Cute right? It only took me all day to come up with that line. I've tried it on everyone I've met thus far today. I got two laughs and an eye roll -- better than my normal joke stats so I went with it.
The red heels are back and possibly with a vengeance. I told someone today when they asked me to describe my style that I was the girl next door with the red heels on. Again, two laughs and an eye roll. But at least I got two laughs.
Small Town Saturday Night
Last night I got all gussied up to go out on a date, but we couldn't figure out what to do. I'm afraid that we've run out of places to go in our town. I literally was all dressed up and had absolutely nowhere to go. It's funny, when I was younger I imagined my twenty-something self living as a single girl in the city. Going out with my 3 best friends -- Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte-- and living a glamourous city girl life. My life might be the polar opposite of that now. I dress up to go get chinese take-out.
But if I think about it for long, it doesn't bother me that I dress up to go eat chinese food with my husband. That my life was never made into a TV series, a good movie (and then a really bad one). That my 3 best friends aren't named Samantha, Miranda or Charlotte. Or that somedays, normally the best days, I have nowhere to go. It hasn't stopped me from getting dressed yet.
Or calling myself Carrie from time to time.
