I wore this outfit last Thursday on a date night with my boyfriend, who just happens to be my husband. (Things are going well, thanks for asking.) It's reached the 100 degree mark here in Texas and it's only May. That means that by August, our house will probably burn down from the heat.

We had plans for this weekend. Plans that involved a kiddie pool and pretending that we were back in college. Only one thing stood in our way: food poisoning. B got it and got it bad. No it wasn't from my cooking and no, I didn't poison him this time. (This time!?! Just kidding, I've never poisoned him. Promise.) Poor kid was on the couch all weekend long with me as his nurse. I'm not the worst caregiver, but the only way I know how to comfort someone is with food. Turns out when you've been poisoned by food, being offered food doesn't help at all. Go figure. Luckily for him, it only lasted for 24 hours.

And then I made him cookies. Cookies after food poisoning always do the trick.

Had you told me 5 years ago, that salmon colored capri pants would become one of my closet staples, I would have scoffed at you in my vintage, ironic t-shirt and skinny jeans while sipping on my grande carmel macchiato with soy milk. But you know what? It's true and I don't care who knows it.  I like these little pants, they make me feel like a kindergartener and a responsible 26 year old all at the same time. (Capri pants = responsible. You didn't know that?)

If you are thinking, "hey this outfit looks a lot like this outfit..." well you're right. Sometimes you just can't fight the inspiration. Except I tossed on my trusty gingham-checked shirt instead of my awesome blue thrifted silk top like Jentine did. Mainly because I don't have an awesome blue silk top. I'm going to go cry into my too tight skirt now...

Whatever side the wrong side of the bed is, I think that I woke up on it. Today I am a grump and this is more than just the normal Monday moodiness, people. This is wrong-side-of-the-bed-and-will-last-until-I go-back-to-sleep grumpiness. In other words, stay away or give me chocolate. Maybe both.

But lo and behold I have a little bit of sunshine in my pocket today. We took these photos over the weekend when we went out on a date. Honestly, if I could live in this outfit I would. I plan on filling my summer days with boyfriend jeans and colorful tops AKA the world's easiest outfit next to a maxi dress and/or a muu-muu. Speaking of muu-muu's, this is one faded trend that I personally hope makes a comeback. For no other reasons other than the fact that I like the word.

Today can't decide if it wants to be overcast or sunny, so I'm deciding for it. I would like today to be sunny so I will wear bright colors and sunglasses, just for good measure.

I can't seem to get through a Friday now without that song going through my head all day. If you know what song I'm talking about, do not click through to that link. It will haunt you until Monday. When I link another annoying song that will get stuck in your head, all day long. (You clicked through, didn't you? I can't say I didn't warn you...)

By the way, it's Friday. We so excited.

To whomever gave up this gem of a jacket, I thank you. I now feel like my dream of being a Golden Girl is coming true. Since Blanche the lush is already taken, you can call me Dottie, the other lush. Cute right? It only took me all day to come up with that line. I've tried it on everyone I've met thus far today. I got two laughs and an eye roll -- better than my normal joke stats so I went with it.

The red heels are back and possibly with a vengeance. I told someone today when they asked me to describe my style that I was the girl next door with the red heels on. Again, two laughs and an eye roll. But at least I got two laughs.

Last night I got all gussied up to go out on a date, but we couldn't figure out what to do. I'm afraid that we've run out of places to go in our town. I literally was all dressed up and had absolutely nowhere to go. It's funny, when I was younger I imagined my twenty-something self living as a single girl in the city. Going out with my 3 best friends -- Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte-- and living a glamourous city girl life. My life might be the polar opposite of that now. I dress up to go get chinese take-out.

But if I think about it for long, it doesn't bother me that I dress up to go eat chinese food with my husband. That my life was never made into a TV series, a good movie (and then a really bad one). That my 3 best friends aren't named Samantha, Miranda or Charlotte. Or that somedays, normally the best days, I have nowhere to go. It hasn't stopped me from getting dressed yet.

Or calling myself Carrie from time to time.

This morning we took our dog along with us as we grabbed a coffee and sat outside on the patio. I guess I've never realized how much attention a little dog will bring. Within an hour we were offered dog tips, dog snacks and actually another dog that needed a new home.  And then we were surrounded by a small herd of girl scouts who told us he was the nicest dog they'd ever met....today. I'll take it as a compliment.

We got on the subject of Girl Scout cookies (naturally) and I asked how many boxes they had sold. One girl didn't answer, another said 60 and then finally this answer: "I don't know but I ate a whole box of Samoa's. And I don't even like Samoa's."

And there standing in front of my two eyes was the 7 year old version of me. Girl Scout Cookie Overeaters of America unite.
