So when the weather man says "it feels like 23 degrees" he isn't lying. In my opinion I would have said "it feels like your insides might die a little if you go outside today" but I didn't go to weather school, so I am no expert on weather emotions.
Same jacket as yesterday but I layered on a few other pieces as well. Rarely in Texas do I need to wear fake fur, but today I have a reason. And yes, I am regretting having bare feet. Thank you for your concern.

Those are bare legs you are seeing, my friends. Bare legs on January 6th. My logic tells me this is a fluke. This time next month we'll probably be snowed-in and I'll be cursing the weather. But today it feels like spring and I want to buy everyone a drink with an umbrella in it.
If you see a weird girl frolicking through the dead grass today yelling 'spring is here!', that will be me.

I thought that I'd start this year off right with some bright pants and an old stand-by. Meet my new "just in case you didn't know I was in the room" pink pants. Somehow Instagram talked me into buying these pants. I'm not saying using public opinions and filtered photos to purchase things is the best idea, but it's not the worst. I mean look at me, I have hot pink pants now.
I've blogged a few times before about my love for this shirt, so I'll leave it at that. But have I mentioned I love this shirt?

This is my last outfit post of the year. When I first wrote that sentence I forgot 'of the year'. That would have been a dramatic way to send that message, no? I've never been good with goodbyes, but that would have been the worst goodbye in history.
I hope high water pants come into trend next year. Even if they don't, I'll probably still sport my short pants with pride. I would just like to point out that yes, one leg is longer than the other. Don't be jealous of my short pants and uneven legs. We've all got to have something to brag about.
Thanks for sticking with me this year, friends. Here's to 2012, the year of short pants.

So this is B's new studio. We thought that we'd try it out this morning and snap outfit shots in there. With it being cold, I'm beginning to have a small aversion to taking my coat off outside and prancing around while B snaps photos of me. Just a small aversion though; will I ever lose the zest for prancing around and pretending to not be pretending to be a model? Never. Do you see that 'smize' up there? That's from years of practice, my friends.

When I was a little girl, I basically was given hand me downs every year. Which was fine by me because I'd see my sister wear something and I couldn't wait to get my little hands on it. As I was in Target yesterday I saw a mom hold up a graphic tee to her 2 year old and ask her if she'd wear that with her jeggings. The 2 year old obviously didn't care but I thought it was cute so I relayed this story to my mother in disbelief that a mom would consult her 24 month old on what she would wear.
"Well I had to give you the 3-color rule when you wear that age.""What? You gave me rules? I didn't need rules." "You would put all of these crazy colors together and I'd say 'baby, pick your three favorite colors and just wear those.' And it would work every time."
So I used that rule today. I picked my favorite three colors and went with it. I don't know if this is on Nina Garcia's style rules, but it worked for me. Thanks, mom.

So I survived our first holiday weekend up at the store. (I know you were worried.) By the end of yesterday I was getting loopy from the consecutive 12 hour days. I was in bed by 7 last night, safe in my bed, away from the crowds of people, watching reruns of Sister Wives on TLC. Obviously the best way to relax after a long weekend.
Since we are closed on Mondays, today is technically my day off and this is my day off outfit. (Don't act like you don't get dolled up and put red lipstick on for your day off, too.) I'm usually in my workwear on the blog but I figured we might as well snap a few photos since I ended up getting dressed today. So just pretend I look as fancy as you today, ok?

Well I knew this day would come -- I had to retire my old faithful Steve Madden boots. Resoled or not, they were getting nasty. Three years of wear, three years of memories. I'm tearing up over here. I was pretty certain that I would buy the same ones again but then I found this pair. And as sad as I was to give them away, my sadness immediately cleared when I slipped this pair on. If Kate Middleton could be a shoe, I think it would be these boots. Is love to strong of a word to use for shoes? What about best friend or dream come true?
I realize I have an unnatural love for my closet. Just let me be.
(Secret message to my grandmother: Thank you for the birthday money, you kindly bought me new boots.)

I wore this last Friday before I knew it was going to be 85 degrees. I didn't realize it was this hot until I walked out at 5 pm from the shop and immediately regretted the heavy scarf. Mainly because I saw people in shorts point and stare at me from afar. I realize it still feels like summer, but it's October. I'm going to look October, even if I'm sweaty while doing it.

I found my sweater this summer at J.Crew for $20. The obviously didn't sell in Texas this summer because they resembled well... a sweater. There are only a few things that don't sell well in Texas in the summer: hot cocoa and sweaters. Lucky for me, I like both. I was wise enough to look past the 100 degree weather and I snagged this gem up in a heartbeat. Yesterday was rainy and cool and I was finally able to bust out my first sweater of the fall. Does this mean boots are next? Dare to dream, right? Dare to dream.

Say goodbye to the tresses, my friends. I've got an appointment at lunch to get a haircut. I haven't decide which Olivia I'm going with yet (1 or 2). We'll see if I'm brave enough to go with the short cut. I had to explain to Bryan the other day why I had so many photos of girls saved to my computer. "I just really like their hair, ok?" He didn't say anything. Just slowly backed away. I guess 30 photos of the Olsen twins and Olivia Palermo is overload...but is it? I've never shown him my collection of Kate Middleton outfit photos. That would really scare him.
Gingham always makes me feel a little bit country. I also realized my skirt is John Deere green. Farmer chic it is.

I wore this the other day while going out to lunch with friends. (Note to self: when you tell people you are moving, everyone wants to buy your lunch or dinner. Lesson learned? Always tell people you are moving.) Something else I've learned during this move? I don't like to wash my hair while packing so this is the 'do that happens almost every day. Except by day 5, it starts to look less intentional and more like I've been ill for days and physically haven't been able to shower. (Today is day 4, so I've got a good 24 hours before people start asking if I'm okay.)
Also, just so that you guys can keep me accountable here is what I've packed so far. (We move in a week.)- 1 of 2 bathrooms- 1/2 of our living room
Pretty good for packing over a two week period right? I know, we're going to be so prepared next week.

Pardon my accessory-less outfit, my friends. I was running late to meet a friend for lunch and forgot to grab my jewelry, a belt, a watch, sunglasses, another purse to put inside of my purse, a hat, some gloves, another pair of sunglasses, lipstick, a flashlight, a travel-sized hand sanitizer, and a small dog to take with me everywhere. Tomorrow I'll be accessory loaded, promise.
I would like to welcome my newly thrifted green pencil skirt to the blog. A few weeks ago, Linda and I both spotted a girl trying on a green pencil skirt at our friend's vintage shop. We turned to each other and simultaneously said "Must. find. green. pencil. skirt. now." I don't make promises out of incomplete sentences that I can't keep, so I rushed out to my favorite thrift store and a little green pencil skirt was waiting for me. I think that I'm going to start wishing for things like 'brand new car' and trying to see if I can thrift that. I'll let you know how that goes.

{Shop: Top, Similar Skirt,Similar Shoes} Do you guys remember when I said that my computer was going crazy? (I mean you should, it was only Friday's post.) Well we should all take a moment and remember my old macbook pro as she has left us for a few days to go get her hard drive fixed. Unfortunately I'm a dumb dumb and rarely back up my computer. So dear friends, don't be dumb like me, please back up your computer or you will lose your entire collection of Hall and Oates songs. Tragic. I'm out of town this week and so all of our locations are out of whack. We couldn't find anywhere to shoot on the fly yesterday so we decided an abandoned truck would do. So instead of a cool location, I'll just distract you with my outfit. Stripes on stripes should do the trick.
